How to help


  • Miriam Kaufman is a paediatrician in the Division of Adolescent Medicine at the Hospital for Sick Children, and an Associate Professor at the University of Toronto.
  • She is the Medical Director of the Complex Adolescent Problem Program at Sick Kids.

Miriam provides care for teens with chronic illness or disabilities and teaches medical students and paediatric residents how to interact with these young people. She has been recognized for her work with adolescents with the 1996 Claus Wersig Humanitarian Award. Miriam sees her main role as that of public educator. She acts as a consultant for newspaper and magazine articles and has numerous yearly appearances on television, radio and as a speaker at conferences. Her public education work has been recognized with the 1998 Toronto Sun Woman on the Move Award.
